Smith+Nephew is hiring Financial Reporting Accountant with German

The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant oversees financial reporting, ensuring compliance with IFRS and local regulations, and tackles complex transactions to align with internal policies. They interpret and apply changes in accounting rules and regulations, while also supervising Reporting Accountants and supporting statutory and tax compliance activities. Additionally, they ensure adherence to control frameworks like S&N MAP and SOX, and oversee Record-to-Report (R2R) activities to optimize processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

What you will be doing?
  • Ensure transactions adhere to group standards and Sarbanes Oxley requirements, optimizing resource use and safeguarding assets.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Controller to monitor and implement changes for external tax and statutory reporting.
  • Provide high-quality, timely reporting for group and statutory purposes, including ad-hoc analysis and decision support.
  • Account for balance sheet integrity through reconciliations, resolving aged balances as necessary.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, enhance services, and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Foster strong relationships with transactional accounting teams and manage requests from auditors and relevant authorities.


What will you need to be successful?
  • Degree-level qualification and preferably professional certification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of post-qualified experience in global accounting practice or industry.
  • Fluency in English and German.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and expertise in reporting under IFRS and local statutory requirements.
  • Capability to prepare monthly and annual direct and indirect tax returns in compliance with tax regulations.
  • Experience in collaborating in virtual teams, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to analyze financial data effectively, draw sound conclusions, and develop proposals.
