CIS Guidelines (Center for Internet Security) refer to a collection of best practices and security standards developed by the Center for Internet Security (CIS). These guidelines assist companies and organizations in securing their IT infrastructure and minimizing cyber risks.
The CIS Guidelines mainly consist of:
- CIS Controls - A set of 20 essential security measures designed to enhance cybersecurity. These focus on fundamental security practices such as software patching, user access management, and network monitoring.
- CIS Benchmarks - Detailed configuration guidelines for systems, software, and networks to ensure secure setup based on recognized best practices. They include configuration instructions for various technologies such as Windows, Linux, and cloud services.
In summary, the CIS Guidelines provide a comprehensive foundation for building and maintaining a secure IT environment.
Technical Requirements
- Technical CIS Policy Expertise - Understanding, interpreting, and applying CIS guidelines, particularly across various Linux distributions (e.g., SuSe, Red Hat) ***
- Advanced OS Skills - Microsoft Windows (Client, Server, Active Directory)
- Operator-Level Skills - Experience with Tenable.SC, Splunk, and Nessus
- Vulnerability Management - Tracking and reporting vulnerabilities
- Experience with Regular Expressions (RegEx)
- Perl Scripting & SQL - Maintaining and extending existing Perl scripts; practical experience with Perl and SQL (operation and further development of the Shadow CMDB)
- Nice-to-Have Skills - Experience with Ansible and ServiceNow
