EMEA Public Relations Manager - German and English speaker

We are seeking a passionate and experienced EMEA Public Relations Manager with focus on the German market.The PR Manager will be based in Lisbon being part of our Global Communications Team and reporting into the EMEA Communications Director.

In this role, you will be responsible for executing our PR strategy in Germany, driving media relations, press events and creating compelling content such as media alerts, bylines and comments to position Zendesk as leader for AI in CX. Fluency in German is required for this role to perform your daily activities.

We are looking for a communications talent with strong media relations skills, creativity, and a good understanding of the EMEAmedia landscape who thrives in an international fast-growing environment.

Note: This role requires you to be based in Lisbon working in a hybrid model.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement PR strategies: Create and execute effective public relations campaigns that align with the global communications strategy, focusing on the German market.
• Media relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key German media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure media coverage in top-tier publications.
• Press releases and content creation: Write, edit, and distribute press releases, articles, and other PR content that communicate our brand messages effectively.
• Media event management: Organize and manage press interviews, media briefings, and other events to generate positive publicity.
• Social media engagement: Collaborate with the social media team to amplify PR campaigns.
• Monitoring and reporting: Track media coverage, analyze PR campaign effectiveness, and provide regular reports to management.
• Agency management: Liaise with PR agencies, if applicable, to coordinate efforts and ensure consistent messaging and successful campaign execution.

What you bring to the role?

You must have:

• Extensive experience in external communications, corporate communications, or a related field.
• Fluency in German required (native or Business Advanced level required)
• Fluency in English (Written and Spoken)
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and messages.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain media relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in the tech, CX or SaaS industry.
• Proven track record of successful PR campaigns and media placements in Germany.
• Strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable communication plans.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence at all levels of the organization.
• The ability to get executives excited about media opportunities and drive their engagement.
• Working experience in a PR agency and in-house is a plus.

Zendesk created a new Go-to-market hub in Lisbon, focused on attracting talent, fostering teamwork and aligning with the Zendesk office culture. Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate, depending on circumstances and location.

Hybrid: In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely for part of the week. This role must attend our local office for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.
