Job DescriptionPurpose of the role: The Buyer will have responsibility for purchasing goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met.
This role has greater responsibility and accountability of a specialized or complex nature in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures. Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions, investigates, and develops sources of supplies, prepares bid specifications, issues bid requests and reviews quotations and evaluate and negotiate contracts. Interprets purchasing procedures to departments and vendors, which require a degree of technical knowledge.
This position requires the use of initiative and independent judgment, attention to detail and multitasking.
Purpose of the team: The Strategic Sourcing and Procurement (SS&P) team sits within the wider Finance Team. SS&P drives value from Verisk's supplier relationships, ensuring internal stakeholders have the goods and services they need to meet business objectives. Team's role is key to supporting the delivery of Verisk's vendor strategy.
Responsibilities- Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected or preferred suppliers and in line with organizational targets and requirements and make any adjustments, updates, cancellations to these documents.
- Examines and analyzes departmental purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information; contact department or initiator to clarify or complete information, determines method to process a requisition based on dollar amount, timeliness required, existing open contracts, and/or competitive bidding.
- Follows up and monitor purchase orders to maintain the integrity of the schedule and verify pricing & delivery dates match the order confirmation.
- Promotes communication across departments to identify and drive toward common policies and best practices to achieve cost reductions.
- Responsible for the management of Verisk Service Now platform for the request, and purchase of non-catalog licenses. Work closely with requesters to understand what type of license they are requesting so the correct license is purchased or deployed by our IT division.
- Work with vendors to manage and resolve all purchase order issues, including timelines, pricing disputes, quantity requirements and shipping methods.
- Ability to generate ad hoc reports in assistance the entire department. Analyze and make useful recommendations.
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement and achieve better results for overall company objectives.
Qualifications- 3+ years of related procurement experience including purchasing, and bids negotiation, supplier relationships
- Fluent written and spoken English (B2+ level)
- Fluent written and spoken German (B2+ level)
- Exhibits excellent customer service skills and behaviors toward internal and external customers and co-workers
- Bachelor's degree preferred in finance, supply chain management or other related fields
- Ability to act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments
- Ability to respond consistently with a high degree of initiative to resolve issues or complex problems that may arise
- Ability to complete tasks and projects within a timely manner
- Proficiency in MS Office tolls as Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Teams
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, able to be part of a community and work in a team environment
- Strong multi-tasking and negotiation skills
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Candidate must be able to work in a hybrid-model from Cracow city-center based office.
Nice to have: - Proficiency in use of Oracle, Service Now or PeopleSoft Platform
- Strong desire to growth in the global Procurement Team.
