English to German In-house Translator

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a talented English to German Translator to join our dynamic Digital Publishing team. This is an exciting opportunity for you to refine your translation skills while expanding your knowledge of market trends and consumer behavior, all while working with cutting-edge technology.

What You'll Do

• Translate and Post-Edit AI Machine Translation: Ensure that the German version of Mintel content flows naturally, is error-free, and remains faithful to the original meaning while avoiding literal translations and awkward phrases.
• Proofreading & Editing: Review and perfect translations across various file types (e.g. Word, JSON), ensuring consistency in formatting, language accuracy, and fluency.
• Train AI Translation Models: Assist in enhancing the quality of our AI translation systems by maintaining accuracy records and developing methods to improve the machine-generated content.
• Maintain Consistency: Ensure all Mintel German content aligns with the Mintel Style Guide and language standards.
• Resource Management: Oversee the upkeep of essential German language resources such as Termbase, Style Guides, and Translation Memories.
• Collaboration & Feedback: Work closely with freelancers, in-house translators, and localisation experts to resolve issues, share knowledge, and enhance quality across all translations.
• Project Management: Deliver timely updates and ensure that all department deadlines are met through effective collaboration with colleagues across different offices and time zones.
• Innovative Process Development: Play an active role in creating and refining new workflows that improve efficiency and quality.

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Translation or Related Field (or equivalent experience)
• Fluent in English and German: Excellent writing skills in both languages, with the ability to translate idiomatically and fluently.
• Proficiency in CAT Tools: Familiarity with translation software and tools.
• AI Translation Experience: A background in machine translation is a plus.
• Knowledge of TMS and Quality Assurance: Experience with Translation Management Systems and ensuring high translation quality.
• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for ensuring accuracy and quality across every piece of content.
• Adaptability: Ability to quickly learn new tools, formats, and applications.
• Critical Thinking: Comfortable analyzing complex content and asking the right questions to ensure clarity and coherence.
• Commercial Awareness: Understanding market trends and the impact of translation on business success.
• Desire to Improve: A passion for learning and continuous improvement in your work.
