As part of our commitment to our customers and our global growth plan, we are currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel to join our dynamic Europe Legal team in Windsor.
Your day to day Working as an integral part of the Europe legal team, you will be providing legal support to drive growth in Europe, supporting our Development, Operations, HR, and Finance Teams.
You will: - Responsible for handling hotel signings, renewals and variation negotiations including preparation and review of contractual documentation and managing owner relationship and related contractual issues.
- Provide support to the business for any hotel disposal, acquisition, lease, joint venture, or other transactional activity.
- Support with legal template management, regularly reviewing and updating as needed for legal and compliance reasons.
- Ensures IHG business is conducted, and business objectives are achieved in compliance with the law and in accordance with IHG global and regional strategic priorities.
- Providing legal support to the Northern Europe hotel operations team on day-to-day issues, including coordinating with the hotel owners, Senior Legal Counsel Northern Europe, and Director of BRR Risk & Operations on contract variations, compliance, payment, and other hotel related issues.
- Responsible for managing legal disputes initiated by or against IHG
- Providing legal support to corporate functions, including HR, tax, and finance.
- Liaising with tax to ensure optimal deal structures.
- Managing IHG corporate entities for Northern Europe, particularly Germany, including the set-up of subsidiaries and branches where required for IHG's hotel operations, including organizing signatures, notarizations, board minutes and powers of attorney.
- Actively participate in the development and roll-out of regulatory compliance programmes together with responsibility for monitoring and evaluating impacts of new legislation affecting IHG business.
What we need from you - Significant experience as a qualified lawyer (ideally in England & Wales or Germany), with understanding of legal transactions and a solid background in providing international corporate and commercial legal advice.
- Spoken and written German language skills essential; other European languages would be beneficial.
- Strong influencing skills to sustain high impact relationships with key owners, internal stakeholders, and results delivery.
- Strong negotiating and drafting experience
- Proactive in driving deals forward and project managing external and internal stakeholders.
- Good commercial acumen and creative problem-solving skills
