An exciting opportunity to work in EY GDS's Business Tax Advisory - Quantitative Services ("QS") group with a diverse team of highly successful tax specialists in Global Grants, Credits & Incentives practice. You will support companies in analysing the complex tax issues associated with the treatment of expenditures incurred for research and development work to claim R&D Tax credits and incentives. As a GDS-QS team member and based at Poland, you will also be part of an exciting, rapidly growing team of tax professionals who support a suite of similar tax services across a variety of clients in Germany.
The opportunity
An exciting opportunity to work in EY's Global Grants Credits & Incentives team based in Poland, alongside other STEM professionals, as well as tax and accounting colleagues.
As a Consultant or Senior Consultant you will be working with a variety of clients from owner managed businesses to multinational groups, who are at the front line in developing cutting edge technology which is helping the Germany to stay as a market leader by encouraging investment into research and development.
The successful candidate will get the opportunity to work as part of a diverse team of highly successful industry and tax specialists. You will be required to lead interviews with the senior and lead technical personnel at our clients across a wide range of different industries to help identify the scientific and technological aspects of their R&D projects that qualify for R&D tax relief. You will play an active role in writing and reviewing reports of clients' R&D projects and taking part in extensive client communication.
As well as working directly with existing clients, you will also be offered the chance to support business development opportunities and cross-sector claims.

Your key responsibilities
- Working as an effective member of a project team, exhibiting strong communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with other team members of different skill sets.
- Writing and reviewing compelling technical project reports to bring out the key technical factors of client projects to support R&D tax claims.
- Take a leading role in interaction with clients' senior technical staff in order to develop a comprehensive understanding of the projects undertaken and identify how aspects of projects meet the R&D Guidelines.
- Application of advanced problem-solving skills and critical thinking to apply to project execution and delivery.
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients to provide high levels of client service.
- A keen desire to adapt and flex existing knowledge to different sectors and build on core capabilities.
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Excellent communication skills in German and English (verbally and in writing).
- Diverse interest, especially in innovative and technical topics.
- Graduate/Post-graduate in R&D, public finance, environmental management, engineering, public law, political science, chemistry, physics, etc.
- Demonstrate high degree of analytical skills while also being a team player.
Ideally, you'll also have
- Experience in the content, commercial and financial structuring, application, and implementation of (publicly funded) R&D and innovation projects.
