Accounts Payable Team Leader (German-speaking)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage end-to-end AP processes for high-volume or complex accounts
• Review and approve junior team members' invoice entries or payment proposals
• Handle escalated vendor disputes, complex discrepancies, and unmatched invoices
• Lead AP activities in month-end/quarter-end close (accruals, reconciliations, reporting)
• Prepare and analyse AP aging, GR/IR, and other performance reports
• Provide accurate input to Vendor Master Data (VMD) processes, ensuring strong compliance and control practices
• Execute payment runs, including urgent and high-risk payments
• Support audits and ensure adherence to SOX/controls
• Identify and drive process improvement or automation opportunities (e.g., OCR, workflows, RPA), update SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) or work instructions
• Ensure agreed KPIs are achieved and maintained
• Provide training, coaching, and daily support to junior staff

REQUIREMENTS

• College degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience
• 2+ years of leadership experience
• Professional level of English and German
• Experience with IFRS or other international accounting standards
• Strong SAP knowledge
• Good command of MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
• Ability to work in a team
• Customer orientation
• Communication skills
• Analytical and decision-making skills
• People management skills
• Willingness to travel abroad
• Ability to recognize patterns and document them if needed
