Our Offer

The Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme in West Africa "Promoting social cohesion and the peaceful use of natural resources in Niger and Benin" (2022-2027) aims at fostering social cohesion and a fairer, more peaceful and more sustainable use and governance of natural resources in the context of mobile pastoralists and the growing influence of violent extremist groups. In order to achieve this, the program focuses on the promotion of local dialogue structures aimed at preventing and transforming conflicts among land users and other key actors, as well as on strengthening and popularization of legal regulations and the representation of land producers' interests. Moreover, CPS supports municipalities and regions in the implementation of governance schemes that allow for a significantly more peaceful, inclusive and sustainable use of natural resources by local land users. The CPS is a program for violence prevention, civil conflict transformation, and peacebuilding. In cooperation with civil society and government partners, the CPS program in Benin strengthens for example trust between conflict parties, supports the processing of violent pasts, and promotes inclusive civil society participation. Through dialogue and violence prevention measures, it also contributes reducing prejudice and stereotypes.

Your tasks

• Joint Country Strategy (TLS); advise Program Coordination on preparing, reviewing, and monitoring the TLS, ensuring alignment with CPS objectives
• Program Planning & Monitoring; support strategic and operational planning, implement impact-oriented monitoring, and integrate cross-cutting issues such as conflict sensitivity, human rights, diversity/intersectionality
• Program Proposals & Portfolios; contribute to new program proposals and portfolio drafts, ensuring compliance with EG and Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) standards
• Project-Level Support; facilitate participatory planning, monitoring, and evaluation with partners; apply suitable tools, define roles, and support reporting
• Learning & Adaptation; develop recommendations based on monitoring results to foster learning and adaptive management
• Knowledge Management; systematize PME findings, document good practices, and channel lessons learned into internal and external learning processes
• Networking & Exchange; contribute to knowledge sharing within CPS partners, GIZ CPS structures, the consortium, and GIZ platforms

Your Profile

• University degree in peace and conflict studies, political science, sociology, documentation science, knowledge management or a comparable qualification
• Knowledge and experience in the areas of violence prevention and conflict transformation, strengthening social cohesion, and project management and evaluation
• In-depth knowledge of dialogue and human rights work
• Proven experience of working with civil society organisations to strengthen their knowledge management and documentation capacities.
• Good training and facilitation skills
• Social and intercultural competence, the ability to work in a team, organisational skills, the ability to work independently and a strong sense of responsibility
• Knowledge of participatory methods, a gender-sensitive approach and awareness-raising strategies, as well as a willingness to work in conflict-prone contexts
• Business-level proficiency in French; fluent German or English
