Finance Manager (German Speaking)

About the role

Smart Mobile Labs (SML), Germany's market leader in bespoke private 5G networks, has recently joined forces with Boldyn Networks to become one team. We are on the lookout for a Finance Manager to join us! You will be crucial in ensuring strong financial controls, optimising accounting workflows, and providing reliable financial data to support business decision-making. This person can be based in BARCELONA or MUNICH.

What you'll be doing

As part of our Finance team, you will oversee the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of the monthly financial close process, ensuring compliance with German accounting standards and working closely with external tax advisors. It's a position with a lot of variety, and day-to-day, you'll mainly be involved with:

• Preparing monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB) and IFRS.
• Ensuring compliance with German tax and regulatory requirements, in collaboration with external tax advisors.
• Conducting quality assurance of monthly financial statements and preparing reports for management.
• Supporting statutory audits and liaising with auditors.
• Handling supplier invoices, ensuring timely processing and payment in DATEV.
• Reconciling supplier accounts and managing payment runs.
• Supporting customer invoicing, ensuring accurate entry of orders and monitoring billable services.
• Tracking incoming payments, liaising with customers regarding outstanding balances, and supporting credit control and cash flow management.
• Processing and reviewing travel expenses, ensuring compliance with internal policies and German tax regulations, and managing reimbursements through HR Works or equivalent systems.
• Maintaining a strong internal control environment and adhering to financial policies and procedures.

What you'll bring

Think you could make a difference here? We're looking for someone who genuinely cares and wants to grow our business. You'll want to make an impact from day one. You might also need some of the following:

• A university degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting, or a related field, or a qualification as a certified public accountant (e.g., Steuerberater, Bilanzbuchhalter).
• Demonstrable professional experience in financial accounting and reporting within Germany.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including experience with German GAAP (HGB) and tax compliance.
• Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and financial analysis tools.
• Hands-on mentality, with the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Very good German and English language skills are required.
