An exciting opportunity to work in EY GDS's Business Tax Advisory - Quantitative Services ("QS") group with a diverse team of highly successful tax specialists in Global Grants, Credits & Incentives practice. You will support companies in analysing the complex tax issues associated with the treatment of expenditures incurred for research and development work to claim R&D Tax credits and incentives. As a GDS-QS team member and based at Poland, you will also be part of an exciting, rapidly growing team of tax professionals who support a suite of similar tax services across a variety of clients in Germany.

The opportunity

An exciting opportunity to work in EY's Global Grants, Credits & Incentives team based in Poland, alongside other STEM professionals, as well as tax and accounting colleagues.

As a Consultant or Senior Consultant you will be working with a variety of clients from owner managed businesses to multinational groups, who are at the front line in developing cutting edge technology which is helping the Germany to stay as a market leader by encouraging investment into research and development.

The successful candidate will get the opportunity to work as part of a diverse team of highly successful industry and tax specialists. You will be required to lead interviews with the senior and lead technical personnel at our clients across a wide range of different industries to help identify the scientific and technological aspects of their R&D projects that qualify for R&D tax relief. You will play an active role in writing and reviewing reports of clients' R&D projects and taking part in extensive client communication.

As well as working directly with existing clients, you will also be offered the chance to support business development opportunities and cross-sector claims.

Your key responsibilities

As part of our German Funding Advisory for R&D, Innovation and Sustainability Incentives team, you will advise clients on the use of public funding for global and local innovation and sustainability projects. You will take on a wide range of tasks, from the project idea development incl. strategic considerations for funding, to the preparation of funding applications:

• Advisory services on project design and structuring of funding projects in the field of R&D, innovation, and sustainability, e.g., decarbonization, at German and EU level.
• Organization and preparation of as well as participation in workshops and project meetings with the client to analyse related activities and projects of the client.
• Development and writing of application documents for different projects to acquire public funding - fluent in both German and English.
• Development of strategic concepts, e.g., for the optimization of funding strategies and the implementation of client projects.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Postgraduate/graduate in, e.g., economics, natural sciences, engineering, political science, public law, or business administration.
• Diverse interest, especially in innovative and technical topics.
• Quick comprehension, no fear of dealing with numbers and texts as well as high degree of analytical skills.
• Being a team-player.
• Ability to get work completed within client deadlines and meet the due dates.
• Excellent communication skills in German (Level C required) and English (verbally and in writing).

Ideally, you'll also have

• Relevant previous experience, e.g., technically in the field of R&D, innovation, or sustainability, or in commercial and financial structuring, or related to the application and implementation of publicly funded projects.
