This initiative focuses on modernizing end-to-end engineering, production, and supply chain processes across a hybrid platform, establishing future-proof logistics architecture, target operating models, and strict clean-core SAP standard practices globally.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The SAP TM Lead assumes end-to-end transformation leadership for the Transportation Management workstream within the global digital transformation program. This role goes far beyond a traditional SAP TM functional consultant position. We are seeking a senior transformation leader and solution architect who can drive process design, target operating model definition, data architecture, and integration design while guiding the organization through the SAP ACTIVATE methodology. Operating within a complex landscape - comprising SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud ERP alongside a dedicated side-by-side EWM/TM platform - you will serve as the primary SAP TM authority across business, IT, architecture, and program governance functions

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Transformation & Workstream Leadership:
  
  • Lead the overall SAP TM workstream through all phases of the SAP ACTIVATE lifecycle.
  • Drive Fit-to-Standard workshops, Fit-Gap assessments, and key architectural/solution design decisions.
  • Define and govern the TM transformation roadmap, ensuring alignment with central program governance and the central Design Authority.
  • Ensure a high-quality "Ready-for-Realize" status at the conclusion of current planning and design phases.
• Team Leadership, Mentoring & Capability Building:
  
  • Lead and direct a combined delivery team consisting of internal client IT professionals and external SAP TM consultants.
  • Coach, mentor, and enable client internal IT teams on SAP TM capabilities and transformation processes.
  • Establish structured knowledge transfer mechanisms and guide the team through SAP ACTIVATE quality gates and deliverables.
• Process, Target Operating Model & Data Architecture Design:
  
  • Own end-to-end Transportation Management process design across all relevant enterprise value chains.
  • Define the target operating model and govern the future TM data model.
  • Ensure data consistency across transportation master data and transactional data models.
  • Advocate for SAP Clean Core principles and industry best practices to minimize customization and promote scalable standard solutions.
• Solution Architecture & Integration Governance:
  
  • Define the future-state SAP TM target solution architecture.
  • Lead cross-functional integration design between SAP TM and adjacent platforms, including SAP EWM, SAP S/4HANA Private Cloud ERP, SAP SD/MM/FI, and SAP Integration Suite middleware.
  • Manage dependencies and represent transportation architecture in central governance forums.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience & Background

• Total SAP SCM Experience: 15+ years of experience in SAP Supply Chain Management transformation.
• SAP TM Expertise: 8+ years of dedicated experience in SAP Transportation Management architecture and execution.
• Transformation Leadership: Proven track record in leadership roles (Workstream Lead, Sub-Project Manager, or SCM Transformation Lead) within large-scale, international SAP S/4HANA template rollout programs.
• Methodology: Deep, hands-on experience leading projects via the SAP ACTIVATE framework.

Functional & Technical Competencies

• Core SAP TM Modules: Expert knowledge in Transportation Planning, Execution, Freight Order Management, Freight Settlement, Carrier Management, Freight Tendering, Charge Calculation, and the Transportation Cockpit.
• Integration Expertise: Proven integration design experience spanning SAP TM with EWM, SD, MM, FI, Yard Management, and SAP Integration Suite.
• Landscape Architecture: Understanding of hybrid/side-by-side architecture models (e.g., dedicated EWM/TM platforms integrated with separate SAP S/4HANA ERP instances).

Leadership & Soft Skills

• Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence cross-functional business and technical stakeholders without direct line authority.
• Exceptional communication, moderation, and alignment capabilities across the full plan-build-run lifecycle.
• Structured, methodical approach to complex problem-solving and transformation governance.

Certifications & Language Requirements & Travel

• Languages: Business fluency in both German and English (mandatory).
• Certifications (Preferred):
  
  • SAP Certified Application Associate - Transportation Management
  • SAP S/4HANA Logistics / Supply Chain Certification
  • SAP ACTIVATE Project Manager Certification
• Willingness and readiness to travel as required by project or client needs is expected. This may include occasional domestic or international travel, sometimes on short notice.
