Requirements:

• Several years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
• Strong understanding of cloud-native environments and modern software delivery practices.
• Experience introducing, scaling, or improving DevOps and reliability practices across teams.
• Hands-on experience with incident management, service reliability, and operational excellence.
• Good understanding of KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs and how they support both business and technical goals.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders in large or complex organizations.
• Ability to translate technical challenges into practical and scalable solutions.
• Fluent German (B2 level or higher) and confident communication with both technical and business stakeholders.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice to have:

• Experience supporting DevOps transformation initiatives.
• Knowledge of Error Budget practices and reliability governance.
• Experience working in enterprise-scale environments.
• Experience defining engineering standards or operating models.

Project description:

We are looking for an experienced Lead DevOps Consultant to join a strategic transformation initiative for a leading German organization.

This role goes beyond infrastructure and tooling. We are looking for someone who can help shape how engineering teams work, improve service reliability, and drive the adoption of DevOps and SRE best practices across the organization.

You will collaborate with engineering leaders, architects, and business stakeholders to establish standards, improve operational excellence, and create scalable ways of working that support long-term business goals.

The position is fully remote within the EU, with occasional travel to Nuremberg, Germany (approximately 5-6 days per year).

Main responsibilities:

• Drive the adoption and evolution of DevOps and SRE practices across the organization.
• Define and standardize reliability metrics, including KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs.
• Support the development of reliability and operational excellence standards.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve incident management and service reliability.
• Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with organizational goals.
• Help establish governance frameworks that support effective decision-making and accountability.
• Promote cloud-native ways of working and modern software delivery practices.
• Act as a trusted advisor on DevOps, reliability, and operational excellence topics.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, ownership, and engineering excellence.
